A critical look at the recent banking crisis

Paul van der Westhuizen

What triggered the US regional banking-crisis and subsequent failure of Credit Suisse? Why did European banks escape unscathed? This presentation will examine the circumstances driving the collapse of 3 regional banks in the US and the demise of Credit Suisse and how it impacted the European banking sector. I will also look at the question “can bank failures be avoided” and discuss the outlook for European banks and potential pressure points in the banking system going forward.
